Tropical Storm Emily formed Monday in the eastern Caribbean and lashed islands with heavy rain and winds, as the system moved northwest on a track that could take it near Puerto Rico and Haiti by the middle of the week.

Emily was expected to bring at least 2-4 inches inches of rain to the Leeward and Windward islands and 4-6 inches to Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, enough to cause dangerous flash floods and mud slides in areas that have already seen heavy rainfall this year, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

The storm could hit Florida as early as Friday, and as always we at Erickson’s would like to let all of our friends and clients know that we will be here for you! Our Emergency line is available 24 hours a day to help you get through any problems that “Emily” may cause.

Hurricane season runs from June 1 and continues until November 30.

As a courtesy we have created a “Hurricane Checklist” that you can download and print by clicking here to help you prepare for this year’s Hurricane Season.
